1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Pockets of Peace Online Alumni Directory (the “Directory”), provided by Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. By creating an account, accessing, or using the Directory, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Directory.
2. Purpose of the Directory
The Directory is intended to support the Pockets of Peace alumni network by enabling alumni to:

Find and connect with other alumni,

Share relevant professional information (e.g., expertise, projects),

Facilitate collaboration opportunities aligned with the values of dialogue, peacebuilding, and professional integrity.
The Directory is not a public social network and is intended for networking and collaboration within the alumni community.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1 Eligibility. You may create an account only if you are a verified member of the Pockets of Peace alumni network (or otherwise invited/approved by Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue).
3.2 Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information and to keep your profile reasonably current.
3.3 Account security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Directory Access and Community Nature
4.1 Restricted access. Access is limited to approved users and authorized administrators. We may use technical and administrative controls to restrict access.
4.2 No expectation of universal availability. While we aim for stable access, the Directory may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors outside our control.
5. User Content and Profile Information
5.1 User content includes information you add to your profile (e.g., biography, experience, photo, links).
5.2 You control what you share. Some fields may be optional. You should not upload sensitive personal data unless the platform explicitly requires it.
5.3 Accuracy and appropriateness. You agree that your User Content will be truthful, professional, and respectful.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Directory in a respectful, and ethical manner in accordance with the community guidelines.
You must not:

Use the Directory for harassment, hate, threats, discrimination, or bullying,

Use the Directory for spam, unsolicited marketing, or mass outreach without consent,

Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract Directory data,

Share another user’s personal data outside the Directory without their permission,

Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights or is defamatory,

Attempt to bypass security, access controls, or account restrictions,

Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliations,

Use the Directory to organize or promote violence or illegal activities.
We may remove content, restrict or remove accounts that violate this policy.
7. Respecting Privacy (GDPR)
7.1 Privacy notice. Our processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Notice for the Directory, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
7.2 Confidentiality expectation. Because the Directory contains personal contact and professional information, you agree to treat Directory information as community-confidential and not share it externally without permission
8. Communications
8.1 Service messages. We may send you essential administrative messages (e.g., security notices, changes to the Directory).
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our materials. The Directory, its design, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue and protected by applicable Norwegian intellectual property laws.
9.2 Your content. You retain ownership of your User Content.
10. Third-Party Services and Links
The Directory may include links to third-party websites or tools (e.g., personal websites, LinkedIn profiles). Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue is not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Use third-party services at your own risk.
11. Moderation and Enforcement
11.1 Right to moderate. The Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue may review, moderate, or remove User Content and investigate activity to maintain a safe, trustworthy community.
11.2 Account actions. We may warn, suspend, restrict, or terminate your access if we find you violate these Terms or created risk to users, the Directory, or Nansen Center of peace and Dialogue.

12. Suspension and Termination
12.1 You may leave at any time. You may deactivate your account or request deletion as described in the Privacy Notice.
12.2 We may terminate. We may suspend or terminate access for reasons including violations, security concerns, or discontinuation of the Directory.
12.3 Effect of termination. Upon termination, your right to use the Directory ends. Certain sections (e.g., liability limitations) survive termination.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Directory is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the Directory will always be available or error-free.
15. Changes to the Directory or These Terms
We may update the Directory and these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice (e.g., via email or an in-platform notice). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
